Who Is Behind a Carton of Eggs? Investigation Into India’s Egg Industry

Animal Equality’s team in India has released a new investigation exposing the egg industry. The footage reveals the systemic cruelty inflicted upon hens in factory farming. Our team targeted 19 egg farms across the states of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.

Hens endure unimaginable conditions in cages barely larger than two sheets of paper. With four to eight animals crammed into these tiny spaces, they are stressed, trampled, and deprived of the basic rights to space and comfort. Huge piles of waste accumulate under the cages, causing feather loss and painful irritations. Despite obvious distress, sick hens are left without veterinary care.
