Unprecedented investigation in a public laboratory using rodents

Did you hear that animals were anesthetized? That painkillers were mandatory? That researchers looked after their well-being? That ethics committees were guarantees? After months working, Animal Testing reveals the cautionary testimony and images of the first whistleblower of a large Parisian research laboratory.

Among the deficiencies identified:

Painful experiences without anesthesia,
Anaesthesia which make animals blind or lose their eyes,
Failure to take into account the famous “endpoints”: the animals die in needless pain whereas the experiments should be stopped before,
The Lake of painkillers (analgesics) on any painful protocols because these would “breached the results”,
Ethics committees that do not work. Internal hierarchic pressures to validate some experiences which should not be accepted due to the pain inflicted on the animals during tests.
Our whistleblower specifies that: When we try to defend the interests of animals in these committees “we annoy everyone”.
This investigation also highlights the human suffering of laboratory’s care staff. They are helpless human in front of all the suffering stood by animals. That’s why our whistleblower chose to testify: because she couldn’t bear this anymore.
