Slaughterhouse Vigil Turned Blockade | Cedar Meats

On October 22nd 2024, Farm Transparency Project held a peaceful vigil at Cedar Meats slaughterhouse where we exposed horrific animal abuse earlier this year.

From 3am, we built a memorial, held signs, played music and shared stories. From the very beginning we had one demand – that Cedar Meats release any baby goats or lambs.

From our investigation we knew that it is not uncommon for goats and sheep to be transported and arrive at the slaughterhouse while pregnant. They give birth on the trucks, in the holding pens and even waiting to be killed.These babies are of no value to the slaughterhouse. They are killed with a bolt gun and discarded.

After nine hours of being ignored by the slaughterhouse, a group of peaceful protestors blockaded the driveway…
