SOSTIENI ACCEDI

Shots fired: Sea Shepherd drone shot at in the Faroe Islands

While documenting the Grindadrap for the world to see, the tension with some Faroese whale hunters rose to dangerous levels, as while standing in the middle of the crowd, a Faroese participant grabbed a gun and started shooting at our drone. Despite a direct hit, the drone stayed in the air and was landed safely, shortly after.

The incident has been filed with the police, who are investigating the matter. Sadly, we can say that we aren’t surprised that it escalated this far – tensions seem to run high when you try to document the supposedly proud tradition that is “the grind”.

Please do remember to react, comment, and share below, and remember to follow the Sea Shepherd Faroe Islands Campaign for frequent updates from the ground!

The crew is safe. And our work continues.
