These girls were saved from a free-range farm raising chickens for slaughter. The farm went bankrupt, leaving 36,000 birds without food and care. The farmer allowed animal rescuers to go in and save as many as possible while the other birds were killed. Rescuers saved more than 600 and Animal Place facilitated placement for 100, including 20 who are now permanent residents here.
