In factory farms, pigs are treated as mere meat-producing machines. If they survive past infancy, their shortened lives are filled with misery and deprivation.

Unfortunately, no federal law protects animals during their lives at factory farms. This means that the meat industry is legally able to abuse billions of farmed animals in ways that would warrant felony animal cruelty charges if the victim were just one dog or cat.
