Marek: Journey of a male dairy calf

Marek is only a few weeks old when he is transported from a Czech dairy farm to a fattening farm in Spain. We document his long journey. Recordings from a control post in France show that the calves only get water instead of milk once. Marek is too shy. No one helps him get to the drinkers. When he finally makes it to the front, he is herded out of the stable. Not only hungry, but also thirsty. He is loaded onto another truck en route to Spain.

Our investigation shows that the “calf transport” system can never work because the demands of dairy calves are extremely high. Even a new EU transport regulation will not solve these problems. That is why we are calling on a transport ban of unweaned calves.
