For years, our investigation teams have been documenting the serious animal welfare violations at slaughterhouse Clay in Uruguay. There, horses are systematically tortured for horsemeat consumption in the EU and Switzerland. The EU auditors do not see these animal welfare violations. They are kept hidden behind the white facade of the slaughterhouse. The EU audits are prepared for in advance and manipulated in order to hold on to the profits from this torture business. The cruelties begin as soon as the horses are unloaded at the slaughterhouse. Exhausted and injured, the horses are left to their own devices for days, exposed to wind and weather. Without food or medical assistance.
