To get a visibly frightened calf onto the stage during a Garden Bros. Circus performance, a trainer pulled the animal by a rope attached to a ring through his nose. Even the slightest pressure on the rope—and especially tugging on it—would inflict pain. The loud music and crowd undoubtedly caused stress to this young animal, who appeared startled as the trainer moved toward him. Please, never attend circuses that use animals.
