Bear So Distressed She Urinated On Herself

Animal circuses like to deceive their audiences by making them believe that animals enjoy performing tricks—but what circusgoers don’t see is that trainers beat animals into submission long before the show. The bears used in Shrine circuses are no exception: They’re confined to cages with hardly any room to move around, unable to escape from their own accumulated waste, as they’re transported across the country to perform confusing tricks. In addition to being bullied and chained, bears are forced to endure the loud music and noisy crowd of a circus performance, which is inherently distressing to them. And training and performances cause trauma to their nerves, spine, and muscles. Bears are complex and intelligent animals who are meant to roam long distances, climb, dig, forage, and prepare dens for hibernation. In captivity, they’re denied everything that’s natural and important to them. Please, never support circuses that use animals!
