On one of the remotest islands on our planet, tens of thousands of baby albatrosses lie dead on the ground, their bodies filled with plastic from the Pacific Garbage Patch. Returning to the island over several years, our team is witnessing the cycles of life and death of these birds as a multi-layered metaphor for our times. With photographer Chris Jordan as our guide, we walk through the fire of horror and grief, facing the immensity of this tragedy—and our own complicity—head on. And in this process, we find an unexpected route to a transformational experience of beauty, acceptance, and understanding. We frame our story in the vividly gorgeous language of state-of-the-art high-definition digital cinematography, surrounded by millions of live birds in one of the world’s most beautiful natural sanctuaries. The viewer will experience stunning juxtapositions of beauty and horror, destruction and renewal, grief and joy, birth and death, coming out the other side with their heart broken open and their worldview shifted. Stepping outside the stylistic templates of traditional environmental or documentary films, MIDWAY will take viewers on a guided tour into the depths of their own spirits, delivering a profound message of reverence and love that is already reaching an audience of tens of millions of people around the world. Production of the feature film "MIDWAY" continues through 2012. For more information: www.MidwayFilm.com Blog: www.MidwayJourney.com

Today there are around 20000. To make matters worse, lions, unlike elephants, which are far more numerous, have virtually no protection under government mandate or through international accords. This is the jumping-off point for a disturbing, well-researched and beautifully made cri de coeur from husband and wife team Dereck and Beverly Joubert, award-winning filmmakers from Botswana who have been Explorers-in-Residence at National Geographic for more than four years. Pointing to poaching as a primary threat while noting the lion's pride of place on the list for eco-tourists-an industry that brings in 200 billion dollars per year worldwide-the Jouberts build a solid case for both the moral duty we have to protect lions (as well as other threatened "big cats," tigers among them) and the economic sense such protection would make. Coming to theatres on February 18, 2011 Directed by: Dereck Joubert Narrated by: Jeremy Irons

On the November 6th 1986, the small and sleepy capital of Iceland woke up to a very special morning. Two whaling ships were found laying at the bottom of the harbor. From the very fact that there were two ships sunk it was clear that it was an act of sabotage, not an accident. Police immediately started massive search operation but the two saboteurs from the Sea Shepherd organization were already abroad and safe. Nobody was ever at trial for this multi-million act of sabotage. Iceland put moratorium on whaling which was only called off few years ago.

Twenty five years after the sabotage a young journalist is coming to Iceland to write the piece on the renewed whaling. Instead she starts to follow a fascinating story of a sabotage, try to learn about its motives and actual executing as well as consequences.

“I just want to tell people that they can do the same thing if they are committed enough and if they believe in it enough. They should set their goals as high as they want and they can achieve them. Don´t like that there is only this one element of people in the world that do this type of things. It isn´t that way. It´s just that some people have reached certain level and they just can´t tolerate it any more. Once they overcome the ego-wall within themselves they compel to follow the higher law and not the laws established by the power structures to protect themselves. Sometimes it´s not a question whether it´s right or wrong, but just how you going to do it.” – Rod Coronado, one of the Reykjavik saboteurs

The Shock Doctrine is the latest documentary from acclaimed director Michael Winterbottom, co-directed by Mat Whitecross. Based on Naomi Klein's bestselling book, The Shock Doctrine argues that America's 'free market' policies have come to dominate the world through the exploitation of disaster-shocked people and countries.

Both the film and the book argue that governments all over the world exploit natural disasters, economic crises and wars to push through radical free market policies. Klein calls this 'disaster capitalism' and in her view, disaster capitalism is as effective as psychiatric shock therapy at wiping our collective memory.

The film concludes that the result is often catastrophic for ordinary people and hugely beneficial to big corporations. The documentary also adds to Klein's thesis - which was written before the recent market turmoil - and includes an analysis of how the financial world got into its current troubled state.

H2Oil is a feature-length documentary that traces the wavering balance between the urgent need to protect and preserve fresh water resources and the mad clamoring to fill the global demand for oil. It is a film that asks: what is more important, water or oil? Will the quest for profit overshadow efforts to protect public health and the environment in Canada's richest province?

Politicians become pawns. Laws are created and prevented. Regulations are bypassed. Information is controlled. Dissent is stifled. Our climate changes. And people die. SEVENTH GENERATION is a documentary film exposing the shocking lengths the fossil fuel industry travels to ensure maximum profits for executives and shareholders. In the United States, this industry spends millions of dollars annually to lobby Congress, ensuring the political support necessary to pass supportive or block restrictive laws. Using this control, the industry has managed to dictate energy and climate policies in the U.S., working alongside federal administrations. The same industry has spent millions of dollars to fund think tanks, organizations, and scientists who have waged a global campaign of deceit regarding the science of climate change and its dire impacts. Those who have spoken out against the corruption, environmental and health impacts caused by its irresponsible business practices have been assaulted, jailed, tortured, and murdered. This unchecked corporate drive for profits has come at the expense of workers, families, indigenous peoples, the environment, and threatens our very survival on the planet. It has and continues to undermine democracy in the United States. SEVENTH GENERATION was filmed on location in the United States, Tuvalu, Fiji, England, Belgium, Denmark, Kenya, Uganda, Peru, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, Netherlands, and Germany. The film is currently in post production and scheduled to be released in 2012.

The Revolution Starts at Home is a feature documentary about how the family household has become one of the most ferocious environmental predators of our time.Concerned for the future of his new baby boy Sebastain, writer and director Andrew Nisker takes an average urban family, the McDonals, and asks them to keep every scrap of garbage that they create for three months. He then takes them on a journey to where it all goes and what its doing to the world. From organic waste to the stuff they flush down the potty, the plastic bags they use to the water they drink out of bottles, the air pollution they create when transporting the kids around, to using lights at Christmas, the McDonalds discover that for every action there is a reaction that affects them and the entire planet.Everyday life under a microscope has never been so revealing. By the end of this trashy odyssey, you are truly inspired to revolutionize your lifestyle for the sake of future generations. In Garbage!, filmmaker Andrew Nisker, skillfully and succinctly puts all of the information in one place — shifting the movement from melting glaciers and oil slicks to our neighborhoods and into our homes, so that average people can connect the dots between their actions and the environment and be inspired to change their polluting ways. The momentum for change continues online at garbagerevolution.com. Visitors will be encouraged to become involved in changing their own communities by sharing stories through video, pictures and blogs and by reaching out to the global community for advice and help. Alternative eco-friendly products and new methods for living green will show visitors how to make the changes at home, where the revolution is born.Available from:http://www.videoproject.com

Winner of Special Jury Prize - Best US Documentary Feature - Sundance 2010. Screening at Cannes 2010.It is happening all across America and now in Europe and Africa as well - rural landowners wake up one day to find a lucrative offer from a multinational energy conglomerate wanting to lease their property. The Reason? In America, the company hopes to tap into a huge natural gas reservoir dubbed the Saudi Arabia of natural gas. Halliburton developed a way to get the gas out of the ground—a hydraulic drilling process called fracking—and suddenly America finds itself on the precipice of becoming an energy superpower. But what comes out of the ground with that natural gas? How does it affect our air and drinking water? GASLAND is a powerful personal documentary that confronts these questions with spirit, strength, and a sense of humor. When filmmaker Josh Fox receives his cash offer in the mail, he travels across 32 states to meet other rural residents on the front lines of fracking. He discovers toxic streams, ruined aquifers, dying livestock, brutal illnesses, and kitchen sinks that burst into flame. He learns that all water is connected and perhaps some things are more valuable than money.

We follow children like Olga and Freddy, nine-year old Hondurans, who are desperately trying to reach their parents in the US.; children like Jose, a ten-year old El Salvadoran, who has been abandoned by smugglers and ends up alone in a Mexican detention center; and Kevin, a canny, streetwise fourteen-year old Honduran, whose mother hopes that he will reach the U.S. and send money back to her. These are stories of hope and courage, disappointment and sorrow. They are the children you never hear about; the invisible ones.

If we continue to catch and eat fish at the current rate, in about 40 years there will be no fish left to catch. Scientists have proclaimed that message for years, and also fishermen are getting more and more aware of the fact that the sea is not an inexhaustible source. The first time the world was confronted with an empty sea, was in 1992 in Newfoundland. The centuries-old cod fishery came to an end when the Canadian government proclaimed a complete fishing ban. Cod in Newfoundland was gone and has not returned to this day. Is Newfoundland an example for what can happen in the rest of the world?

In Sea the Truth, we want to make up the balance: what is the fish stock at the moment?
Is it true what scientists teach, that in 2048 the oceans will be fished out? And if that message is true, who will do something about it? What is being done to change the tide? Do politicians listen to these alarming words? And what can you do as an individual? We are looking for answers to these questions.

In the film we have two story lines which are edited through each other. There is underwater photographer Dos Winkel as a champion of the sea. He is very concerned because, after thirty years of diving, he witnessed with his own eyes that it’s becoming uglier and more and more empty under water. The film follows Dos in his activities.

In addition, there is a marine biologist who is doing her own research. Everything Dos is saying raises questions, which we want to have answered by scientists, professionals, experienced experts, politicians and other stakeholders. Her tour along various places and people will be edited through Dos Winkel’s personal story. Topics which are being dealt with in the film are: fishing quotas, subsidies, illegal fishing, farmed fish, health and sustainability.

At the end we hope to have a balanced answer to our question: can what happened in Newfoundland repeat itself? Or is the world warned enough and can the next generation, with all its attempts to deal with the ocean in a sustainable way, continue to enjoy the beautiful underwater world and sustainably caught fish?

Curiosità; Il nome del gallo, Rocky Bulboa, è un chiaro riferimento al nome di uno dei più celebri film di Sylvester Stallone. Advances in fishing technology mean whole species of wild fish are under threat and the most important stocks we eat are predicted to be in a state of collapse by 2050. The film points the finger at those most to blame, including celebrity chefs, and shows what we can do about it. This is not just a film, it is also a campaign - for sustainable consumption of fish, for marine protected areas to allow the sea to recover, and for a new ethic of responsible fishing.

Powerful, informative, controversial and thought-provoking, EARTHLINGS is by far the most comprehensive documentary ever produced on the correlation between nature, animals and human economic interests.
