Descrizione - Scenes from the Chilsung dog markets in Daegu, South Korea. A dog is strung up to a tree and violently beaten before finally being lead off to its death. In South Korea, dogs are consumed not as food, but because Koreans believe that the meat holds medicinal benefits even though there is no scientific basis for this claim. Worse still, Koreans believe that fear, pain and suffering inflicted on the animals before death will enhance the powers of the meat, and dogs are often beaten and tortured before being slaughtered. The footage was obtained by hidden camera by an English teacher living in South Korea.
